The Finnish Environmental Research Centre SYKE investigated the decomposition of bio-based and biodegradable plastics in a study conducted in 2019. Only a few of the materials met the criteria for rapid biodegradation. Bioska films degrade the fastest. The Environmental Institute’s research therefore confirms the rapid biodegradation of Bioska even in marine ecosystems.
